"Transformation of Our Child!"

Emergence of Individuality in 22-Month-Olds: A Parental Insight

The once angelic image of twenty-two-month-old Boki is gradually evolving into that of a more spirited individual. As Boki grows, there is a noticeable assertion of personal preferences, accompanied by significant distress when expectations are unmet, often resulting in tears. The child now frequently discards diapers, consumes up to three daily doses of probiotics instead of one, and mischievously drinks bathwater, all while laughing playfully.

In response, there are moments each day when I must quell a rising frustration, occasionally resorting to raising my voice and leading Boki into a room for a gentle yet firm guidance, holding hands while doing so. Despite the tendency towards capriciousness, Boki remains fond of a beloved rabbit toy, embodying the pure innocence of a white rabbit, having learned to hop around. Even as I caution about potential dangers, Boki is determined to continue bounding energetically. There is a growing need for wisdom in ensuring this cherished child can safely explore their world with freedom.

In American parenting circles, the phrase "They go through phases!" is frequently invoked. It describes behaviors such as a previously hearty eater refusing food or a docile child displaying early signs of rebellion as they hit different developmental stages. At the age of twenty-two months, children become adept at expressing strong wills, yet it is crucial to balance leniency with encouragement to prevent discouragement and maintain the nurturing blend of discipline and love. Parenting, over time, reveals itself to be an exercise in endurance and infinite patience.
