As the refreshing autumn breeze carries the scent of the season, pumpkins ripen across the United States in October. Predominantly orange, these pumpkins exude a unique hue. Let's take a journey to the pumpkin fields that beautifully color the green fields of October.

This article covers the 2019 Pumpkin Patch.

An Unexpected Contribution from a Neighbor

Neighbor Melanie and her family visited the pumpkin patch today and sent me photos via iPhone. Unfortunately, I couldn't join the pumpkin field tour this year, but with Melanie's permission, I am sharing their family photo taken amidst the pumpkins. The happiness in the orange glow of the pumpkins is palpable!

Families gather to participate in farm-hosted tours, buying pumpkins for Halloween decorations while enjoying the ripening autumn. The term “Pumpkin Patch” seems to have been used colloquially by Americans for a long time to describe these events, which Wikipedia defines as “festivals created by pumpkin agriculture during the Halloween and fall seasons.” Participants pull wagons through expansive pumpkin fields, collecting various pumpkins and exploring the sights.

Throughout October, "pumpkin patch" events are held nationwide. Search for a local event, and enjoy the delightful scent of pumpkins for a joyful Halloween and an autumn-filled October.
