Interview Insights

Mom&I: How did you initially embark on your broadcasting career?

Michelle Park: I began my journey in broadcasting at the editing room of KNBC in LA. Initially, I did not envision myself on camera like I am today; rather, I imagined I’d work in news, in-depth reporting like ABC's 20/20, which I admired.

Mom&I: Among the numerous programs you lead, which television genre appeals most to you?

Michelle Park: The programs I'm involved in are essentially genre-blended. Traditional TV broadcasting is no longer the expanding media frontier. Digital media alternatives have burgeoned, allowing interaction with audiences via various platforms. Rather than pinpointing a single medium, I find engaging with audiences through stories in realms I love, like food and fashion, immensely fulfilling. Despite my love for work, family time with my adorable daughter and loving husband remains invaluable.

Michelle’s fascination with motherhood shines as she shares joyful moments with her daughter via social media, including Instagram.

In the show "Harry," she collaborates with the famous singer and actor Harry Connick Jr. to explore food and captivating themes.

Mom&I: As you navigate diverse broadcast roles, where do you find the most excitement?

Michelle Park: The appeal lies in weaving narratives that engage senses audiovisually while sparking thought. I relish my role in crafting coherent stories, appreciating how personal narratives, shared globally over the internet, enable perpetual preservation. Additionally, the evolving media landscape fascinates me, as I now own a social media agency. I guide clients, primarily in food, lifestyle, or fashion, to enrich their content—a realm once unimaginable to me. My TV broadcasting background underpins this venture, particularly in photography and copywriting.

Mom&I: Are there specific television genres or subjects you wish to focus on more?

Michelle Park: I aim to explore all my interests, which are vital to my career passion. With the ongoing shift to digital media, I enjoy embracing multiple genres. Broadcasting is now organically interconnected, free from old constraints. The opportunity to combine all my interests and continuously explore new fields is a true gift.

Mom&I: How have Korean sentiments or culture influenced your projects?

Michelle Park: Korean culture deeply roots within me, influencing every aspect of my work. My passions for food, fashion, and beauty reflect not only popular Korean interests but also my upbringing amid Korean cultural elements, like communal dining and artistic appreciation. My mother's guidance on skincare, especially, holds newfound gratitude today.

Mom&I: What are your latest projects?

Michelle Park: I'm producing the engaging program "Her Big Idea," where I participate in thematic development and storytelling, a richly rewarding endeavor. Additionally, I feature on "Harry," covering food and various interests. My social media agency collaborates with wedding company 'Watters' and fashion brand 'Manhattan Portage.'

Mom&I: Despite your extensive work, whom would you like to collaborate with or what media do you favor?

Michelle Park: BuzzFeed, renowned for compelling multimedia content, stands out. They innovate video content across various topics, including those I love—food, beauty, fashion. I'd relish contributing video series to their platform, with its diverse topics promising immense fun.
