There is a performance group known as Improve Everywhere, renowned for bringing laughter to people's daily lives with its unique and whimsical ideas. Led by the famous American comedian Charlie Todd, the group gained immense popularity worldwide when he introduced the amusing “No Pants Subway Ride” on YouTube in 2002.
Initially, only about 150 participants joined the event. However, it has since expanded to 25 countries, becoming an international event beloved by countless young individuals. On this day, young people across the globe shed norms and constraints, enjoying freedom as they participate in this event, even in the cold winter, showcasing their bare legs beneath their coats. This year, No Pants Subway Ride Day will take place on Sunday, January 12.
For those looking to revisit childhood memories of playing with trains, the New York Botanical Garden Holiday Train Show is a must-see. Featuring 25 G-Scale model trains and trolleys traversing a 0.5-mile distance, this event, now in its 28th year, goes beyond simple train movements. It features over 175 iconic buildings and thousands of structures, including the Brooklyn Bridge, Yankee Stadium, and the Statue of Liberty, intricately recreated to give visitors the sensation of standing amidst New York City itself. Event creator Paul Busse uses natural materials like bark and dried fruits to craft miniatures of New York landmarks such as Brooklyn Bridge and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Open since late November, the Holiday Train Show runs until January 26, 2020.
